Industry
Linkages
In keeping with the mission of The Fashion School, many industry
linkages are sought for our students. These include:
- More than 150 combined
years of faculty experience in the fashion industry.
- Internships required
for Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising. You can see a list
of where students have done their internships in the past few years.
- In-class industry
projects at the junior and senior years for both majors. Some
of these projects are one-time but three of them are deeply rooted
in the school's curriculum; these include:
- The Sears Project: Students
complete a market survey and then do a product package for
merchandise that is later sold in Sears stores. Feedback comes
on the sales figures from each year and the students begin
another cycle. This project involves merchandising and design
students.
- The
JCPenney Project: Fashion Design students create a line for Arizona® each year and are involved in brand development activities
for the company. Students compete for a paid internship in
brand development at the corporate office in Dallas.
- The
Simplicity Pattern Company Project: Allows junior design students to present their design ideas
to Simplicity. Annually two students are chosen to receive
a trip to NYC, an award and Simplicity prints their patterns
with name recognition on the pattern envelope.
- Industry-based advisery Board for
The Fashion School.
- Links to other on-line fashion related sites can
also be found on this web site.
