The NYC Studio for KSU is located at 315 W. 39th Street, Studios 401-402.  The director for this space needs to be an energetic person with vision and an entrepreneurial spirit.  The space is “new” and needs leadership for its growth and development.  In addition to the daily routine of maintenance of KSU programming the director must reach out to others and develop a year-round agenda for the studio space.

The space is a part of KSU’s College of the Arts. It is desirable that the director embraces the wide field of the arts and has connections and interests within this area.  The director should enjoy working with young adults who want to explore the arts in NYC.  As we begin, fashion design and fashion merchandising will be the most prominent programs but in the future theatre, dance, art and music may be involved.

The director must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area.  Four to five years of relevant experience is desired.  Computer skills and experience in budgeting and strategic planning are desirable.  Skill in written and interpersonal communications is important.  Travel to the KSU campus may be necessary on an occasional basis.

• The Outreach Program Director for this studio space will:
• report to the Director of The Fashion School, KSU
• be an employee of Kent State University
• oversee the studios at 315 W. 39th and their operations

• In conjunction with the director of The Fashion School the Outreach Program Director will
• plan and execute the New York Study Tours for The College of the Arts and particularly for The Fashion School
• work with faculty and students to assist with internship placements
• develop a marketing plan and seek opportunities for partnerships in the use of the space
• develop linkages with external organizations, professional associations, and community groups to support program development
• identify and secure program funding opportunities
